‘Let Your Light Shine’

Matthew 5:14 – 16

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Our school, which is situated in the stunning Lambourn Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has extensive grounds and state of the art resources. Our site provides opportunities for outdoor experiences and learning. We are one of the only primary schools in West Berkshire to have an outdoor heated swimming pool enabling us to provide free weekly swimming lessons for Year 1 to Year 6 in addition to stay and swim for reception..

Lambourn C of E is a place where we put the children at the heart of everything we do. The children come first, they are central to every decision we make. We strive to ensure our children are happy and successful. They grow, during their time with us, to be ambitious, aspirational and resilient. Our talented teachers inspire and motivate children, encouraging scholarship, intellectual curiosity, independent thought and effective learning behaviours to enable them to ‘Let their Light Shine’.

What a transformation today at Lambourn with the installation of our new Wall Art. The children are so excited to use our new local, national and global maps to develop their disciplinary geographical skills.

The KS1 Art club have been working so hard to create a painting about the seasons, learning how to mix colours to reflect the changing leaves throughout the year. We can't wait to see the finished results!

Year 6 would like to thank families for coming to their COOL session. The children were beyond thrilled and excited to share all their work. We are incredibly proud of the students' hard work and enthusiasm across all curriculum areas.

Following their learning about harvest, F2 explored the shape, size, smell and texture of different vegetables. Finally, they chopped them up and followed a recipe to make soup. The soup contained courgette, squash, carrot, parsnip and onion, every single child enjoyed the taste.

When we visited the foodbank headquarters, the children immediately set to work helping to sort the different foods. It was incredibly insightful for the children to gain a deeper understanding of what happens to food donations and the number of people that receive them.

The School Council had an informative morning at the West Berkshire Foodbank. The day started with School Councillors from KS2 travelling to church and loading up the generous food donations from the Harvest Festival. The foodbank currently helps over a thousand families a month.
